I agree that your work in this area in the spirit of Michael Brooks is badly needed. Bringing together Gebser's integral approach and the left is promising, especially since socialism needs to be reclaimed from bureaucratic socialism and its adamant and narrow modernism. Gebser's approach allows for insights from romanticism and mythic perspectives so that this politics becomes truly integrative. But a local orientation needs to enter the conversation as the other side of cosmopolitanism. So does anarchism. This suggests Gandhi who has postmodern and p;rogressive elements in his thought as well as reactionary ones.
Thank you, Bill. I completely agree that a democratic, rather than bureaucratic socialism is needed -- a strong state is important insofar as it serves as a kind of midwife for democratized and localized municipal futures. That's Murray Bookchin's anarchism rubbing off on me, though. One of the incipient conversations Michael and I were starting to have was about how his cosmopolitan socialism could lean into a regenerative 'biopolitics' rooted in localism and bioregionalism. I had introduced Michael to the work of the P2P Foundation and Michel Bauwens, so he was beginning to familiarize himself with 'cosmo-localism' and started mentioning on his show. I think this would've been -- and still is -- a promising direction that the left would be wise to take up.
Michel Bauwens also points to the continued importance of class differences as a key to understanding the present social reality. This is one thread from the classic left that is still relevant; in particular, Bauwens explains the difference between the US and Chinese systems in class terms to make sense of the present conflict.
Hey Jeremy! gratitude for your ongoing illuminating and profound engagement. Glad to get to know Michael Brooks and Cosmopolitan Socialism. I am living on the edge of a new Soul in Kairos flow based way that is in a Meta Consciousness and Meta Spiritual space. Consciousness needs to be examined from outside, as Cronos Time, in order to awaken to a new Reality where Souls can be truly embodied.
Looking forward to reading you and connecting. All the best from Norway, where the sky is clear and Soul connection enhanced. Fran
I feel a grace entering, as you bring Michael's work, (and your conversations about that work together), into this space. As it enters, it become animated, alive, opened to combine and re-combine with each of us.
Here's some signaling happening for me:
-----Consciousness is actually fundamentally already the How...it has no need to transform.
-----It is by its very elemental nature 'root-oriented', root-connected, root-loyal.
-----The quality and shape of our contact with consciousness "unfolds inside the quality and shape of our own Attention, which can open (or close) space for consciousness to unfold." (loosely borrowed from Adam Robbert work on attention and perceptions). Such vicissitudes and variations in this attention (and caring) --- it is ours to learn to support this pre-historic gift of attention as it learns to meet and participate in multiples.....
Lovely reflections, Danie. Thank you. "Consciousness is...fundamentally the How... its very elemental nature 'root-oriented.'" Appreciate your references to Adam Robbert's work. In Debashish Banerji's work, he describes something called the 'being of becoming,' or Aurobindo's 'Atman', which I've been understanding as fairly synonymous with Ursprung (origin). It has no need to transform itself because it is the creative being of all becoming, and all that unfolds in and through time.
Thank you for including so much into this conversation. I will re-read this one multiple times as it helps provide clarity and articulation to my own experiences and intuitions. Thank you. This is also my first restack and I hope others will appreciate the guidance provided. Thank you.

That's so great to hear, Andy. Thanks for sharing my article.
Thank you for inviting us to continue this great body of work Jeremy. This was beautifully written!
Thank you my friend!
Always a pleasure! Is there any chance this will be a potential subject for an office hours?
I'd love to host a call in this series and am most definitely planning to make that happen soon. Would be great to have you join me for that.
Just say the word Jeremy! I'd love to participate/hold space/assist in any way I can 💜.
